True Food: A whole pizza and a bottle of wine for $20. Can’t really go wrong.
I would also recommend the edamame potstickers and mushroom pizza!
Jax’s Seafood and Oyster Bar: ALL NIGHT Monday :) Great seafood for Kansas City, shipped in everyday and pretty fresh for midwest. My favorite calamari in town, also recommended poke nachos, oyster shooters, and they have $1 oysters during HH.
Yes. this this this. The grilled oysters are my standout (I don’t even like oysters) as well as the calamari as mentioned by Carley. Also, the drinks are quite good. My family still raves about the fried oysters and threaten to come to KC for that dish rather than me.
Kona Grill- Yes it’s a chain but their happy hour is so good. Good mix of sushi and non sushi items for the less adventurous seafood eaters. My fav happy hour rolls include checkerboard, bama, crunchy spicy tuna. Also decent lettuce wraps, avocado eggrolls, yellowtail sashimi
Zocalo- Pretty decent mexican fusion happy hour. Good tacos, Margs are cheap, fun vibe.
Cooper’s Hawk- Amazing pork belly tostadas, italian sausage and whipped riccota flatbread, caprese, and of course great selection of wine
JJs: This place burned down my M1 year, the fire was absolutely incredible to see (in the worst sort of way). I was really happy when they were finally able to re-open. The happy hour menu is always a hit. From meatballs to pizzas that change on the daily, you can’t go wrong.
Hogshead: This place has been rated the best burger in town for a couple years now by Feast Mag. I can’t say I’d put up the strongest of arguments.
Melting Pot: Yeah it’s super basic, but there’s something about dipping food in either chocolate or cheese. They do two happy hours, one is the traditional with both cheese and chocolate, the other is late night with only chocolate (Get the turtle or yin and yang).
I would add my fav cheese by far is the classic alpine.
