The answer is NEVER, EVER P&L. <3
I second this. The only time I think it’s appropriate to go is a weekday if you’re in the area to grab a bite/drink before a concert at Sprint Center. Or if it’s a big special occasion like your favorite country singer is playing, KU (or other teams I guess) are playing and you want to be around a big crowd to watch the game. Or some big new years celebration. Overall it can be expensive to get in and many bars will ALSO charge cover. But, if you find yourself in a situation of going, ALWAYS UBER, parking is pricey! In that case I recommend:
No Other Pub: It has a ton of games inside- floor shuffleboard, beer pong, a bowling alley, a taco stand, some indoor golf game, Darts. This is the place to watch sportsball.
SharkBar: a touristy touristy beachy bar where there’s bikini clad girls and sometimes speedo guys dancing around. All UV lights and the dancefloor has a central catwalk that gets sticky and out of control
Mosaic: Oh boy. Lots of crazy lights, girls dressed like they’re ready to club in vegas, deep house/EDM type music. Most vegas-y of the bunch
PBR: Country bar with live music and a mechanical bull in the center
Howl at the Moon: A dueling piano type bar where you can pay to request songs, embarrass your friend on their birthday with a ballad, etc.
McFaddens: Irish bar with some live music on weekends as well. Sometimes I will sneak in here from outside so I don’t have to pay cover through the main entrance, don’t know if that trick still works :)
Pizza Bar: For after exploring all the above areas at the end of the night needs some pizza before going home
Guys Taco Spot: Never ever go here. But if you are looking for light comedic reading please see here: https://www.thepitchkc.com/guy-fieris-dive-and-taco-joint-has-arrived-in-kansas-city-and-here-is-our-review-of-it/
